the newness of things

So I have a new job. Same company, new job. Maybe you remember that I went to school to be an architect? Well, now I’m the Marketing Coordinator.

You may be saying “what?” – I’ve gotten a lot of that – because of my degree. But really, I’ve been doing a lot of graphic design, marketing, and public relations for both firms I’ve worked for since I was in and out of school. So, it’s not exactly all that new or foreign, and I’ve always enjoyed the graphic design/ marketing part better than lots of the architecture parts. I’ve never much enjoyed designing toilet rooms, or fighting with engineers about why their massive duct work can’t run directly through the middle of my pretty space.

This is a good thing, and I’m very happy -and overwhelmed and stressed- and excited about it. Supposedly I’m still just working about 24 hours a week (when that actually happens, I’ll be sure to let you know), some from home… and I’m also still doing a little architecture here and there.

Transitioning into this new position hasn’t exactly made all the other things I was doing before go away, so it’s been really busy. So busy, in fact, that I’ve been in this position officially for two weeks and haven’t had time to blog about it – or blog about much of anything at all for that matter. So, while I’m really excited about this, I’m also very overwhelmed and feeling a little like a crazed lunatic… which is probably making my poor husband feel like he is living with a crazed lunatic.

I do love marketing, and my background in architecture makes me perfectly suited for this role. But let’s not forget my most important, and favorite job. My hope is that this new job is a flexible position that will make it possible for me to work a lot from home, and continue to make my family my first priority.

Lets all cross our fingers.

Hang in there! I know how these transition periods can go... I just went through one at work (still adjusting to "Director of Education and Training" as well as selling) and I have a major one coming up at home... as you well know. Anyway, if anyone can figure out this craziness, I know you can!!!
