Radio Star

For the past week my handyman husband and my biker brother have been holing up in the basement with the power tools and destroyed my dining room table. All in the name of music and bicycles.

Shane is a pretty serious bicyclist, and this coming Saturday is an annual night ride that he participates in. Well, this year he got the hair-brained idea that he needed to provide tunes for the entire city while touring around Indianapolis. (Shane was also nice enough to point out that his own car doesn't actually have a working stereo, but now his bike does. It's very fitting for the boy who loves all things bicycles.)

The boys cooked up this crazy little contraption, and officially finished it late Wednesday night. That big wooden box is so heavy I can't lift it on my own, and it contains four (4) car speakers, a car CD player, and it's all powered off a car battery. There's a gigantic switch under his seat that turns the whole thing on and off.
I must say, I was pretty impressed. And I did get to see him ride it - although it was a shaky start- he cruised up and down our street trying to wake the neighbors.

And this is my favorite part... the CD of choice for the new CD player's maiden voyage:

That is hysterical and ingenius all at the same time. I'm not sure which is more funny... the look of the bike, or the CD that was selected to play!

The city got a big kick out of Shane and Justin's bicycle music on Saturday evening. The N.I.T.E. ride was a success! People along the sidewalks were very impressed by the ghetto blaster on wheels :-) ... and other cylclists followed him like he was the Pied Piper. It was fun.

Love, Dad
