Making a Move... ?

A few weeks ago when Jon and Erin were visiting we drug them out to look at a few houses, and happened upon one we thought was pretty cool. On a bit of a whim we decided to make an offer last week and over the weekend we received a fairly reasonable counter! Of course now we've countered their counter offer and are waiting on a reply... but it's pretty exciting to be playing with fate and on the brink of possibly buying a new home - what could quite possibly be our dream home! What's especially scary is that our house is not quite ready for sale, and definitely not yet on the market, and this new "home" is not exactly habitable (that seems to be our favorite kind of house).

Let me tell you all about this cool place... it's an old one-room school house. Currently there's no heating or cooling, or plumbing, or walls for that matter. It's basically just a brick shell, but someone has taken the time to replace the roof and windows, build a staircase and frame out a second floor. There are a few stud walls on the first floor, but for the most part it's a big empty box that we get to design and build to exactly what we want. We love the location, the school system, and in every way it seems like it could be the perfect house for us... eventually - like when it has heat and lights and maybe even someday a garage.

It was a big scary decision that we mulled over this past weekend, kind of like God threw it into our laps and said this is a big risk but I'm going to make it too good for you to pass up. I mean really, what better time in our lives to take on a big financial risk then when we have a newborn baby to feed and clothe? But really, I'm jumping to conclusions- we haven't yet heard back from the counter-counter offer (is that even a thing?), and there's a strong possibility that they will just laugh at our proposal... so for now, that's the update, and we'll just see if this crazy thing pans out.
