Do You Recycle?

I thought we were just about the last people on earth to start recycling (we started last spring)... but just in case there's anyone out there, reading this blog... then I thought I'd make signing up even easier for those of you in the Indy area who aren't doing it just yet.

And if you don't live in Indy, then I'm sorry, I don't know how it works for you... it's probably free -which I'm jealous of- and is even more reason why you should probably be doing it.

Of course, there are multiple places in Indianapolis to take your recycling to for FREE. It costs us about $4/month to recycle. I don't have to sort anything, and they pick it up. So that makes it worth the cost to me.

There are at least two companies in Indianapolis that do curbside recycling, I'm only going to tell you about Republic, because that's what we use- but there is another place called Dan's something or other. I don't know much about it, except that in my area it costs the same and only picks up every other week.

So, how to start recycling:

You just call up Republic Services at 1-800-234-6881, tell them where you live and that you'd like their recycling services. They'll tell you how much it costs for your area and give you a pretty blue bin.

You get to fill that pretty blue bin with:
Aluminum and metal cans (labels do not have to be removed)
All plastic that is marked with the #1 or #2 in the recycling symbol
Bundled or tied newspaper
Magazines
Glass

And that's about it. It doesn't get any easier.

I gotta say...good for you! After giving Bizzle such a hard time about not recycling, I've been even busier trying to recycle more than ever! I'm excited that they are signing up for it, now, too!

:) FYI, it's $5.75 for us to recycle with Republic. I've contacted them and plan to begin right away.
