This weekend was spent on the house for our upcoming house decorating contest. The judging is Wednesday, so we have it almost done... but there are a few minor things to be done still. The witch will have dry ice in her cauldron, so fog will spill out over the porch; the steps will have some tea light luminaries, and the pumpkins will be lit and line the front porch on the left side.
Yesterday we carved ten pumpkins. I'm very proud to say that both sets of parents and my brother all were present to pitch in, and they did some fabulous pumpkin carving. In fact, I've never seen anyone carve that many pumpkins so fast! It was like the pumpkin carving Olympics.
Saturday at the Irvington Fall Festival they will announce the winners. There are five or six categories and last year only 10 people entered the contest. However, it is only our first year to enter, and I have entered us in the "Best Overall" category- which is probably what everyone else in the contest has entered, so I'm not holding my breath on winning any prizes. I'm just enjoying the decorating. It's driving Justin bonkers. I keep coming up with more projects for him to help with, but I think he secretly likes it.
